A man's in hospital after trying to rescue a dog from a frozen lake in Rochford.

Man charged with death by dangerous driving
A Chelmsford man's been charged with death by dangerous driving.
In June last year, a 75-year-old man died after being hit by a car in Springfield Road, Chelmsford. The 22 year old will appear before Chelmsford Magistrates' Court next Friday.Added by news on 07/02/2012 16:04:18
New speed limit on A127
A new 40 mile an hour speed limit`s been introduced on the A127.
The restriction will be in place between the A128 junction and the Fortune of War until further notcie. Officials say the decision was made for safety reasons after they found damage to the central reservation on a large stretch between the A128 and Dunton.Added by news on 07/02/2012 12:44:09
Flooding - Update
Drinking water has been restored to houses in South Woodham Ferrers.
Early this morning a burst water main caused flooding - the water was 2 and a half feet deep in Eastbridge Road.
13 people were evacuated from their homes.

'Racist Abuse' At Blues Match
A man's been arrested after allegedly shouting racist abuse during Southend's League Two game at Plymouth.
Devon and Cornwall Police say the 33 year old - from Plymouth - was detained on suspicion of causing racially aggravated harassment.
He's been released on police bail until next month.
